Top Brazilian fighters Lyoto Machida and Shogun Rua are in Goiania, Brazil for Saturday’s event. These two had consecutive bouts in 2009 and 2010 and Shogun successfully ended the short lived Machida Era in their second fight. Both these guys are professionals and there doesn’t seem to be any animosity between the two even though they are 1-1 against each other. Neither have had the same level of success as they had before they met as Lyoto is 4-4 in the UFC since beating Shogun the first time and Shogun is 3-4 since beating Machida at UFC 113. Just goes to show how difficult it is to continue winning for a long period of time in this sport.
