Dana White Post Fight Scrum

Biggest take away from this video is Dana announcing Jose Aldo refuses to fight Anthony Pettis.  The boss did not seem very happy about this and it seems pretty safe to say Jose will change his tune.  Thanks to MMA Heat for the video.

I don’t care what Tattoo Alan Belcher gets at any time in his life from this point on, it will never be worse than the Rosie O’Donnell/Johnny Cash thing on his arm.

Dana Says Machida Is Now Number One Contender, Should Get Next Shot

Lyoto Machida was involved in a controversial and uneventful split decision victory over former number one contender Dan Henderson.  In his post fight press dealings Dana said that Lyoto beat the number one contender, thus making him the number one contender and next in line for the belt.  I doubt Machida will get he next shot since it is not a very marketable fight.  Machida did not look impressive in his win on Saturday and the champion Jon Jones has already defeated him.  Alexander Gustafsson is fighting in the main event on April 6th and Former Strikeforce heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier is fighting former UFC heavyweight champ Frank Mir on April 20th on FOX.  Both Gustafsson and Cormier have expressed interest in fighting for the 205lbs belt and both would be marketable fights, not to mention the timing works out well as the light heavyweight champ Jon Jones defends his title against Chael Sonnen on April 27th at UFC 159.  Whatever is next for this division we will have more answers after all of the April fights, but my money is on Cormier getting the next shot.

What Is Next For Josh Koscheck?

Koscheck was upset this Saturday by Robbie Lawler losing in the first round by TKO.  Kos was controlling the fight up until he got caught and with someone as powerful as Lawler all it takes is one.  This is the second loss in a row for Koscheck, though in his previous fight he dropped a very controversial split decision to number one ranked Johny Hendricks.  Still it puts Kos in a tough position.  He has already lost to the champion Georges St. Pierre twice and now is on a two fight skid.  Koscheck is still without a doubt one of the best fighters in the world at 170lbs and there are big fights for him there.  A fight with fellow bad boy Nick Diaz is very marketable, he has yet to face Carlos Condit or Jake Ellenberger, and a rematch with Johny Hendricks could happen.  The good news for Koshcheck is one of those fighters has to lose at UFC 158 and Joe Silva usually likes matches up fighters who have either both won or lost in their last fight.  Kos has also previously talked about the ability to change weight classes easily given his wrestling background and could either move up to 185lbs or down to 155lbs.  It will be interesting to see what he decides but my thought is he will be matched up with another top ranked welterweight who loses at UFC 158.
