Our friends over at Intravid.com give us their predictions for UFC on FOX 7. Should be an amazing card.
Benson Henderson vs Gilbert Melendez
Though Gilbert Melendez is a very tough fighter and deserves this shot Henderson’s athleticism, cardio, and relentlessness should be enough to earn him the win. Going to be a great fight though.
Daniel Cormier vs Frank Mir
Tough stylistic match up for Mir since Cormier has the ability to take the fight where he pleases. Look for Cormier to utilize his hands and get the take down late to win each round.
Nate Diaz vs Josh Thompson
Thompson is a good wrestler and should be able to secure some takedowns but Nate is dangerous off his back and has a relentless pace that should wear Josh down.
Jordan Mein vs Matt Brown
Both Mein and Brown have some serious momentum behind them. Finishing Dan Miller in his last fight showed serious skills and enough to give Jordan Mein our vote
Chad Mendes vs Darren Elkins
Elkins is an outstanding wrestler and that is how he has controlled previous opponents. However, Mendes has never been taken down and was a two time NCAA All American so should have the advantage in the wrestling department. Mendes is more athletic and well rounded than Elkins. Even though Elkins is not the highest ranked fighter Mendes has faced he could be one of the toughest.
Francis Carmont vs Lorenz Larkin
Carmont is on a nine fight winning streak dating back to 2008. Look for him to keep that momentum going with a win over Strikeforce’s Lorenz Larkin. Carmont trains out of the world renowned Tristar Gym so you know he will come very well prepared.
Myles Jury vs Ramsey Nijem
Winner: Myles Jury
Jury looked awesome in his last fight against Michael Johnson. Look for him to show even more improvement in this fight and try to control Nijem with his wrestling and length.
Joseph Benavidez vs. Darren Uyenoyama
Benavidez will utilize his wrestling to keep this fight on the feet were he should have a significant advantage.
Jorge Masvidal vs. Tim Means
Means is coming off a long layoff being out of action since June. That could play a factor as he faces Strikeforce cross over Jorge Masvidal.
TJ Dillashaw vs. Hugo Viana
Dillashaw looks better every fight and always has his wrestling to fall back on. Comes out of a great camp at Team Alpha Male so you know he will come ready.
